Well, that went quick didn't it? This is not so much a trip down memory lane as a quick walk across the street. And what did we end up with, as we close in on 2012?
Shows always provide the familiar structure to the year, but there was a shake-up in the events calendar as the industry moved further away from big, noisy, events towards more targeted shows. Regional events in particular did well.
Elsewhere, there were retail casualities including big names like Dolphin, now owned by PMT, but also the arrival of new, modern, stores which willl hopefully form the next generation of MI retailers. New brands arrived, old ones returned and the industry retained its mix of cautious dread and gutsy endeavour.
