Music Tourism Convention
16th Feb 2017 - 17th Feb 2017
Sound Diplomacy has launched its next event in the Music Cities Events series – this time heading north for the inaugural Music Tourism Convention.
The event is hosted by Visit Britain and Marketing Liverpool and is the world’s first conference bringing together the music and tourism sectors to explore how music impacts, benefits and improves tourism, from festivals to heritage, music trails to food, awards to partnerships.
Music tourism is booming globally. In the UK, for example, it is worth £3.7bn in direct and indirect spend, with over 9.5m travelling to the UK for music related festivals and events.
First speakers include:
– Sally Balcombe, CEO, Visit Britain
– Jo Dipple, CEO, UK Music (Authors of ‘Music Tourism: Wish You Were Here’)
– Yaw Owusu, Creative Director, Nothin’ But The Music
– Mike Clewley, Cultural Coordinator, Punk London
"By combining music and tourism, you create jobs, entice visits and put more ‘heads in beds’. Music impacts hotel bookings, travel cost, food and drink and leisure. From artists to tour operators, destination marketers to music associations, music is a cost-effective tool to project, promote and diversify tourism offers, regardless of genre, locale or language,” said the organisers.
The Music Tourism Convention takes place on Thursday 16th and Friday 17th February 2017 at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool.
