Edinburgh Guitar & Music Festival
25th May 2013 - 27th May 2013
|Venue:||Edinburgh Corn Exchange|
A brand new three-day long guitar and music festival is set to take place in Edinburgh from 25th to 27th May 2013.
The inaugural Edinburgh Guitar & Music Festival is the largest festival of its kind to be held in Scotland and aims to attract participants and visitors from all over the world to the Edinburgh Corn Exchange.
The festival’s programme includes performances by German guitar virtuoso Peter Finger, Italian fingerstyle guitarist Daniele Bazzani, swing guitarist Anth Purdy and Scotland’s jazz virtuoso Nigel Clark among others.
As well, visitor’s can take part in the festival’s extensive offering of guitar seminars that cover topics ranging from guitar looping to how to become a studio guitarist.
The festival’s organisers are also looking to support the local community by putting on two guitar competitions for young musicians aged 11 to 14 and 15 to 18 years old. Finalists for the competition will be selected from recorded entries and invited to perform live at a special event on Sunday 26th May.
“The Festival aims to provide a unique international stage for showcasing the work of both professional and amateur guitarists,” says Ged Brockie and Adam Dzierzek of Guitar & Music Festivals Ltd. “However, it’s also very much a community event and we are delighted to be receiving support from local businesses, as well as the backing of leading figures such as Edinburgh’s Lord Provost, as we embark on what will hopefully become an annual event in the international guitar calendar.”
